I used the bacon wrapped technique for basting chickens for the final 20-40 minutes of roasting my turkey one year and the results were very pleasing.
I'm sure the pilgrims would had used this technique had they have known about it. Just in case people never heard this. Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird instead of the bald eagle.
I guess that means we might had been eating eagle instead these days if that idea had been accepted.
